Find The Needle

The endless haystack

A strange warehouse, locked doors, and about six million strands.

Find The Needle opens in a strange warehouse. Steam's about text says you were a farmer, or think you were. In front of you sits an endless haystack. The doors will not open. The only instruction is to find the needles. Short copy on the store counts about six million hay strands in that pile. Everything else — tools, belts, products, the tech tree — is how you search a stack that large without standing in one spot forever.

The room you cannot leave

The warehouse is the entire first-person stage. Screenshots show timber walls, a high hay mound, a conveyor feeding a Sell Hay booth, and later an overhead web of orange machines. There is no overworld map on the store and no second biome name. When the copy says the doors will not open, it is describing that lock, not a puzzle with a published key.

Scale is the joke and the job. Six million strands is too many to rake by eye. Steam therefore pairs the pile with a sell loop: move hay, take coins, buy a better mover, repeat. The 485 / 600 cue in one official still is a real on-tool quantity, not a wiki-invented HUD. It is the only numeric overlay this site treats as in-game evidence.

itch.io's older five-million line disagrees with Steam. Use six million when you quote the live product. The warehouse does not become a different game if a trailer crop shows more sky or more timber; those stills are the same bay from other angles.

Find the needles, plural

The instruction is not find a needle. Steam writes Find the needles. That plural is why scanners, robotic arms and sorting machines show up later as search gear rather than as flavor. The store still will not say how many needles exist, what they look like, or what happens when the last one is bagged.

Manual work comes first. A metal detector is the named starting search tool. Shovels, buckets, wheelbarrows, pitchforks and vacuums process hay so you can sell it and fund the next machine. Belts, balers and arms arrive after that shop loop, not instead of it.

If you came from Bitdot's listing, reset the numbers. That other Steam haystack markets five million pieces and co-op. This warehouse is single-player, six million strands on Steam, and a factory you build beside the pile rather than a co-op lobby.

The metal detector is how you start the hunt in that locked room. Sell hay at the booth along the same wall as the conveyor in img-ss-1. Coins from that booth buy the rest of the tool list. Nothing in the copy opens a second warehouse.

How to read the official stills

img-ss-1 is the sell-hay station, a conveyor, and the giant straw wall. img-ss-2 is the top-down belt network with orange machines around a central mound. img-ss-3 and img-ss-4 are first-person tool work, including the 485 / 600 cue. img-ss-5 and img-ss-6 keep the same timber and hay language at later factory density.

Those crops are store screenshots, not a hidden debug overlay. They are why this wiki uses cream paper, timber rules and safety-orange labels instead of generic neon. The Sell Hay sign is wayfinding in the game and on this site: hay goes that way, coins come back, the pile does not get smaller unless you keep feeding the line.

Steam News stills from the most-played-demo climb show the same warehouse language in announcement art. They are not extra rooms. They mark that the demo's pile-and-factory loop found an audience between 15 and 25 September 2026.

When a still shows more sky or more timber, it is still this bay. The trailer and the seven store screenshots are the visual set. News PNGs from the most-played-demo climb reuse the same hay language as announcement art, not as extra rooms.

The locked warehouse is the whole map. Timber, a hay mound, a Sell Hay booth, then orange machines overhead. Six million strands on Steam, five million still lingering on itch Open Graph. Use six million. Doors stay shut. Needles stay plural. The detector, the booth, and the first belt all live in that one bay.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the haystack?

Steam's short description says about six million hay strands. itch.io still displays an older five-million-strand Open Graph line. This page uses the Steam figure because that is the live storefront and the demo payload. There is no official cubic-metre size or strand-length table.

Can I open the warehouse doors?

Steam says the doors will not open. No patch note in Demo V8 publishes a door key, a second map, or an overworld. Treat the warehouse as the play space, not as a hub with a hidden exit on the store page. Sell hay, buy tools, and grow belts inside the same timber box.

Is this the Roblox needle hunt?

No. Find The Needle on Steam is app 5160800 by FindTheNeedleDev and Hay Passionates. Roblox needle games, Bitdot's Needle In A Haystack Simulator (5159870), and other hay-sorting titles are separate products with different loops and stores. App 5160800 is the factory; 5159870 is Bitdot's co-op haystack.
