Once hay is selling, Find The Needle wants a factory. Steam names conveyor belts, power, balers, scanners, robotic arms, drones, hay wrappers, paper machines and sorting machines. Demo V8, posted 11 September 2026 by animatemesh, reworked conveyor snapping and pathfinding, added F for No Snap Mode, let E on a power pole shut down the electricity network, and introduced U-Splitters, U-Joiners, plus BRICKS and HAY indicators on the Pellet Disc Machine. Filter the table by logistics, economy, power or processing. Categories such as search and automation still appear under All. Throughput numbers are not on the store, so they are not in this ledger.

V8 keys beside the machines

F No Snap Mode is a conveyor control. Hold the line when automatic snap would glue a belt to the wrong neighbor. E on a power pole is a grid kill switch for the whole electricity network, not a single-lamp toggle. Hay Sell Stand snap is the other V8 belt rule: its incoming conveyor now snaps, which is how early money lines lock to the booth.

U-Splitters and U-Joiners arrived in the same notes. They are logistics pieces for the reworked pathfinding, not extra processing machines. Pellet Disc Machine gained BRICKS and HAY indicators, which is why eco bricks and pellets share a glanceable factory cue. Vacuum Yard is on this ledger because V8 priced it; it is still a manual-station, so it hides when you filter to processing.

Community walkthroughs name extra buildings. If a name is not in this table, it is not in the first-party tool and machine lists used here. Do not treat a YouTuber overlay as a missing row.

Filter All to see scanners, robotic arms, drones and Vacuum Yard. Those rows hide when you pick logistics, economy, power or processing because their store categories sit outside those four buttons.

Scanners, arms, and the pile

Steam's automation sentence is search as much as logistics. Balers, scanners and robotic arms sit in one breath with belts. The scanner's job is the pile. The arm is the late-game looking machine the store pairs with robots. Drones appear in Start Automating beside conveyor belts and wrappers. None of those four have a published key, throughput, or power draw.

Sorting machines straddle logistics and search: they process hay and hunt needles. Paper machines and hay wrappers sit on processing lines that turn the mountain into pulp, paper and wrapped output. The still here is first-person factory work among those orange bodies, not a fake telemetry panel.

Power is a network. Poles are nodes. One E press is enough to darken the yard, which is why the electricity short exists. Rebuild from the Hay Sell Stand after a shutdown if the snap line was your only income.

Snap to Sell Hay before you art-direct the yard

The sell booth is an economy machine with a logistics mouth. V8 made that mouth snap. A first belt from the pile to Hay Sell Stand is the documented money line. Branch with U-Splitters only after that line pays for the next pole.

img-ss-1 on this section is the ground-level sell station, conveyor and straw wall — the same photograph the home hero uses, here as the factory entrance rather than the landing crop. Orange supports and the Sell Hay sign are the wayfinding, not decoration.

Factorio and Satisfactory come up in the Top 3 developer post as hours in those games and a factory built to find needles. That is flavor for intent, not a license to copy their recipe graphs into this ledger.

The overhead still shows conveyors, branching belts, orange machinery, and the central hay pile. That is the factory this ledger describes. Snap toward Sell Hay first, then decide whether F, U-Splitters, or a simple straight line fits the yard.

Frequently asked questions

What does F do in Find The Needle?

Demo V8 documents F as No Snap Mode for conveyors. Use it when automatic snap would attach a belt to the wrong machine. The Hay Sell Stand's incoming conveyor still snaps as its own V8 rule. There is no full keybind list on the store beyond F and E.

What does E do on a power pole?

Press E on a power pole to shut down the whole electricity network. V8 also adds a low-power visual effect. The electricity short on YouTube is the moving picture of that grid, not a second set of unpublished keys. Rebuild the sell line after a shutdown if that belt was your only income.
