The tech tree

Over 300 upgrades, and no public node list.

Find The Needle advertises a huge tech tree with over 300 upgrades. Steam says those upgrades cover new machines, speed, efficiency, factory size and new ways to process hay. That sentence is the entire official tree. There is no published node table, no prerequisite graph, and no cost column. This page records the promise, points at the machines and products the tree is supposed to feed, and stops before inventing 300 rows.

What over 300 upgrades actually means

The store uses huge and over 300 in the same breath. Treat that as a long unlock list you will live in, not as a finished public spreadsheet. Categories named beside the number are machines, speed, efficiency, factory size and new processing. Those five buckets are the only official grouping.

Demo V8 did not dump a tech-tree UI screenshot with node names. It dumped conveyor snap, F, E, U-Splitters, U-Joiners, Vacuum Yard price, and Pellet Disc lamps. Those are patch facts, not tree rows. If a node later wraps one of those systems, the patch notes will have to say so.

Coming soon for Q4 2026 is the full game window. The tree may grow after that date. Until a first-party list ships, quoting a 300-line fan sheet would be fiction.

Treat each shop unlock as one of those 300 until a patch names the node. Speed and efficiency will not show up as extra machines on the automation ledger; they will feel like faster belts and cheaper power once they exist.

What the tree is supposed to feed

New machines maps onto the automation ledger: belts, poles, balers, scanners, arms, drones, wrappers, paper machines, sorters, U-pieces, Pellet Disc. Speed and efficiency are unnamed multipliers. Factory size is why recommended spec warns that very large factories are CPU heavy. New processing maps onto hay pulp through pellets.

You still start with a metal detector. The tree does not replace the shop; it extends it. Sell hay, buy a vacuum, then spend whatever the unpublished nodes cost on the next belt. Coin sinks per node are unknown.

The Top 5 most-played-demo post, on 20 September 2026, said the developer was still adding content before release. That is the closest official mood music for an unfinished tree. It is not a changelog of 50 new nodes.

The Top 5 post on 20 September 2026 said content was still being added. That matches a tree that is advertised as huge and still unpublished. Keep playing the named machines while you wait.

How to use this page in the demo

Play as if the 300 upgrades exist and will keep appearing. Do not pause the demo waiting for a wiki graph. Snap a sell line, keep power up, and buy the next named machine when the shop offers it. When a node clearly changes snap, power, or a product lamp, read the updates page.

If a community overlay numbers nodes 1–300, that overlay is not a source here. First-party names only. The same rule killed co-op calculators and Roblox codes for this wiki.

System requirements still matter as the factory grows. Recommended spec calls out 6+ cores and 16 GB RAM because large yards are CPU heavy. A 300-upgrade factory on integrated graphics is the crash case the minimum spec already warns about.

CPU load is the other half of a big tree. Recommended spec already warns that very large factories are CPU heavy. A 300-upgrade yard on an iGPU is the crash case on the specs page.

Play the named machines while the 300-upgrade promise sits in the background. New processing means pulp through pellets. Factory size means the CPU warning on the specs page. Speed and efficiency will not appear as extra portraits on the automation ledger. Demo V8 is still the only public list of factory verbs: snap, F, E, U-pieces, lamps.

When a future note names a node, it can join this page. Until then buy the next machine the shop actually shows and keep the sell belt alive.

Huge and over 300 share one store sentence. That is a long unlock list you live in, not a public spreadsheet with costs. Demo V8 remains the patch that actually named factory verbs.

Not stated by Steam: node names, costs, prerequisites, or a public 300-row table.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a complete Find The Needle tech tree list?

Steam promises over 300 upgrades for machines, speed, efficiency, factory size and new processing. It does not publish node names, costs, or prerequisites. Demo V8 documents conveyor snap, F, E, U-pieces and Pellet Disc lamps instead of a node sheet.

Does the tech tree replace manual tools?

Steam still says start by hand with a metal detector, then buy shovels through vacuums, then belts and machines. The tree is advertised as upgrades on top of that loop. There is no official statement that nodes skip the shop.

Will the full game add more than 300 upgrades?

The full game is coming Q4 2026. The Top 5 demo post said content was still being added. Steam has not published a final node count beyond over 300. Treat extra nodes as future patch facts, not as rows on this page.
